One of the finest love songs of the late-'1900s, "This Year's Love" is about that gray area in a relationship when things are going very well, but you are too scared to tell them how you feel for fear they may not feel the same.

One of rock 'n roll's greatest oddities and most talented performers, England's David Bowie used his 1975 album, Young Americans , to explore American soul and R&B. The eponymous first single is a wall-to-wall powerhouse that mixes blue-eyed soul with elements of jazz and island rhythms mixed with politically-tinged lyrics, which include a not-so-veiled reference to The Beatles . This performance from The Dick Cavett Show  shows Bowie in his element -- probably coked up and letting it all hang out for a national audience. If you look closely, you'll even recognize a young Luther Vandross singing backup. Both the record and album have found new life as each generation has championed them as underappreciated accomplishments in the medium.

Talking Heads "Life During Wartime" (from "Stop Making Sense")

A bizarre song by a bizarre band, "Life During Wartime" is an upbeat, minor-chord stomper with lyrics about survival in a post-apocalyptic United States. Look, it just works, alright? More pronounced in the concert-film version than the studio version, the rhythm team of drummer Chris Frantz, bassist Tina Weymouth, and percussionist Steve Scales create a bedrock bottom for singer David Byrne and a terrific synth solo by Bernie Worrell. In fact, the entire concert film Stop Making Sense  strips down and expands many Talking Heads songs, but only "Life During Wartime" features a jogging session with Byrne.

Roger Waters "Comfortably Numb" (w/ David Gilmour) (from "The Wall Live at O2 Arena")

Rock 'n Roll is nothing without rivalries and good relationships gone bad. Pink Floyd is no exception. Once the ultimate progressive-rock band, founding members Roger Waters and David Gilmour had an epic falling out, forming new, successful bands on their own. Waters and Gilmour each developed stage shows that they each toured around the world to consistently sold-out crowds. While Gilmour's shows were more like musical showcases, Waters incorporated large stage sets that culminated in the early-2010s with a Broadway-style mega-set that included a 35' wall that was built during the first third of a complete playing of The Wall , the band's seminal 1979 album. At a tour stop in London, Gilmour made an unannounced appearance, singing the choruses and playing the two solos from "Comfortably Numb" in front of a raucously elated audience.
